How to explore your data

Think of it like peeling an onion.

You go layer by layer. Diving into as much depth as you'd like, without overwhelming yourself.

Step 1: Pick your data source

Based on the integrations you connect into Cohesyve, your data will be collected from source and interconnected within the platform. So your first layer of exploration is a data source (e.g. Shopify).

When you pick a data source, you'll see two options pop up below:

How is {Data Source} connected?

Clicking this button will visually show you how your platform data is connected (e.g. Customers -> Orders -> Order Lines -> Product Variants -> Product)

Read Documentation

Step 2: Select what you'd like to explore within data source

Next, pick a starting point of your exploration. Every data source has various types of entities that contain different information about your data.

For example, Shopify has Customers, Orders, Product Variant, Products etc.

Step 3: Search

Once you're ready, click the "Search" button to see the results.

What you'll see is a table that shows you the data you've searched for.

Now you can do the following:

  1. You can select which columns you'd like to see/hide

  2. You can sort the table by a specific column (in Ascending or Descending order)

  3. You can group the results (e.g. Customers grouped by State) to create a nested table like below:

You've got your first exploration in the bag. But this was just a simple search. You can do a lot more.

Clicking this button will take you to the data source specific section of this documentation () and help you understand what each entity and property in Shopify means so that you can better setup your analytics.
